Ms. Starsoneck is the assistant director at Helping Up Mission Inc., where she has been serving since 2021. In her role, she reports directly to the senior director and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the building. She supervises and supports all managers at Helping Up Mission, including the operations manager, kitchen manager, program manager for pregnant and postpartum women and intake manager. Her responsibilities also include working with women who have completed their one-year program, assisting them with their housing plans and managing disciplinary issues and challenges.

Prior to her current position, Ms. Starsoneck was the program administrator of permanent housing programs at St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore from 2020 to 2021. Before this, she served at St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore from 2012 to 2020 as program director, assistant director, volunteer coordinator and program assistant. She began her professional journey as a child life specialist at Erlanger Health System from 2006 to 2008.

Ms. Starsoneck’s educational background includes a Master of Science in human services with a focus on child development from The University of Alabama, which she earned in 2005. She also holds a Master of Science in psychology from Covenant College, obtained in 2004, where she also completed her Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a minor in sociology in the same year. In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Starsoneck is an accomplished author, having published “Singled-Handedly Blessed” in July 2023, a book that chronicles her experience as a single woman who adopted a baby and navigated the adoption process. Inspired by her work at Helping Up Mission, where she encountered many women struggling with relationships but striving to rebuild their lives, she aims to encourage others facing similar challenges through her writing.

Ms. Starsoneck attributes her success to overcoming challenges throughout her life experiences, her passion for helping people achieve their goals and the unwavering support of her family, church, friends and parents. She is particularly thankful for the mentorship of Pam Wilkerson, the senior director at Helping Up Mission.

In her personal life, Ms. Starsoneck enjoys running marathons, traveling, working out, participating in civic activities with the PTA and her church and spending time with her daughter. She is currently working on her second book, a children’s book about adoption and is contemplating furthering her education by pursuing a degree in social work to become a licensed social worker. This would enable her to expand her career opportunities into teaching and conducting training outside of Helping Up Mission.
