Malcolm Jones, II, Ed.D honored for his achievements in educational leadership

dr Jones is an educator and school administrator, celebrating more than 25 years of service to students, teachers and his community.

JACKSON, MS. July 25, 2023 /24-7press release/ – Malcolm Jones, II, Ed.D was included in Marquis Who’s Who. dr Jones is an educator and school administrator, celebrating more than 25 years of service to students, teachers and his community. Despite being raised by a teacher, Dr. Initially uninterested in a similar career, Jones earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Alcorn State University in 1996. His passion for football and coaching made him reconsider, and in 1998 he earned a Master of Science in Biology Education from Alcorn State University. dr Jones has continued to educate himself throughout his career, earning an Educational Specialist Degree in School Leadership from Mississippi College in 2010 and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership in 2022.

dr Jones’ career began in 1999 as the head soccer coach at Treadwell High School in Memphis, Tennessee. He continued to focus on coaching for several years, serving as the head football coach for Melrose High School from 2000-2001 and as the defensive coordinator for Meridian High School from 2001-2004. He continued to build a reputation for promoting athletic excellence as Murrah High School’s head football coach from 2004 to 2007, when he accepted a similar role for the Indianola School District. In 2009 dr. Jones was named the McComb School District’s head football coach and athletic director, a position he held until 2016. In 2014, he began to shift his focus to classroom leadership while also accepting a position as alternate school principal for the district. He was appointed associate principal of Coahoma County Junior and Senior High School in 2017 and assumed his current position as principal of Forrest City High School in 2019, where he has helped build a community-college partnership that enables students to earn essential EMT degrees and professional driver’s licenses, among other professional skills.

In recognition of his dedication to his work, Dr. Jones has received awards including a district-level Beating The Odds award and the 2023 HBCYou Network Lifetime Achievement Award. He credits his success to the example of his parents and coaches and considers the success of his students his greatest achievement. He looks forward to growing as an administrator and professionally, including an anticipated promotion to district manager in July 2023. In his free time, Dr. Jones enjoys sports, reading, gardening and spending time with his family.
