    GLEN ELLYN, IL, November 30, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Maria Boundas Bakalis, EdD, has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. With more than four decades of excellence in public speaking, education and theater, Dr. Bakalis has earned distinction as a public speaking and educational consultant for Professionally Speaking. Since 2022, she has focused her efforts on finding new motivational speaking opportunities while conducting research for her playwriting projects. Additionally, she has been an actor, director and seminar and workshop presenter with her own company, MariaBakalis.com, since 2000. She also has served as a public speaking coach for Curtain Up Classroom since 2019 and was a valued member of the board of directors for the Glen Ellyn Historical Society.

Before joining Professionally Speaking, Dr. Bakalis served as a professor of communications and theatre for Waubonsee Community College from 1978 until 2009. During this period, she also was the director of Curtain Up Classroom from 2005 until 2010. She became a playwright and performer for Professionally Speaking in Athens, Greece in 2017. She has also contributed several written works to her field, including co-authoring “Who Do You Think You Are? Interpersonal Interactions” in 1997 and writing “Breaking the Boredom Barrier,” which was featured in New Teacher Advocate in 2011. She also authored “La Maria: The Life and Loves of Maria Callas,” which published in Maria Callas Magazine in 2014.

To prepare for her professional journey, Dr. Bakalis earned a Bachelor of Arts in theatre from De Paul University in 1967. Following this achievement, she attained a Master of Arts in the same areas of study in 1975 from Northeastern Illinois University, and a Doctor of Education in adult education in 2001 from Northern Illinois University. Eminently qualified in her field, she is a certified teacher for grades six through 11 by the Illinois State Board of Education. She also holds a certificate in theatre studies from Athens Centre and a certificate in acting from London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Looking to the future, Dr. Bakalis intends to continue cultivating meaningful connections with others and is presently acting in a play about Mary Todd Lincoln.
