Since assuming the role as Chief of the Department in 2018, she has focused on the patient centered care in the outpatient Lung Center and in the Intensive Care Unit at Saint Anne’s Hospital. Among her many skills, Dr. Cojocaru is widely known for her strength at building cohesive teams and increasing the productivity and professionalism of a department. She has drawn upon these strengths since 2013, when she first joined Prima CARE PC in 2013 and shortly after establishing “Dyspnea clinic” or Shortness of Breath Clinic, where she evaluates and helps patients with difficulty breathing. Her dedication to the medical field is further exemplified by her concurrent role as an Instructor at Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she has shared her knowledge and passion for medicine with medical students.
Dr. Cojocaru’s career includes extensive training in medical field. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care and Pulmonary Medicine. Dr. Cojocaru completed Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at the UMass Chan Medical School in 2013, and Internal Medicine Residency training at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center/Tufts University in Boston in 2010.
Dr. Ana Cojocaru received her Medical Doctor degree from “Carol Davila” Medical University, Bucuresti, Romania in 2003. Her academic journey also includes a post-doctoral training at Vermont Lung Center at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont 2006-2007.
Dr. Cojocaru attributes her success to the influence of her teachers as well as her compassion, empathy, curiosity, and innate love for humanity. Inspired by her mother’s work as a nurse during her childhood in Moldova, she aspired to be a physician from an early age to alleviate patients’ pain and contribute to a happier and better world.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Cojocaru is devoted to raising her two daughters, who she considers one of her most notable achievements. She enjoys spending time in nature, traveling, and finds solace in reading and listening to audiobooks about the human mind and psychology. Looking ahead, she aims to train medical professionals on how to improve patient care by building strong relationships and connections with their patients- a testament to her commitment to enhancing the field of medicine through meaningful interactions.
