Mr. Smoak has carved a distinguished career over 20 years, serving as the owner of Diamond S Consulting and Mechanical Services since 2019. Leveraging his tenure in the power industry as a site manager and field engineer for OEM and power service companies, he focuses on providing power plant consultancy to clients. Mr. Smoak has also been affiliated with Global Consulting and Mechanical Services LLC, where he has progressed from a field services director to a project manager and vice president of business development. In addition to his primary business, Mr. Smoak has owned an automotive repair shop since 2021 and Diamond S Ranch in Texas since 2004.

Before his present positions, Mr. Smoak’s journey in the industry began at Lexicon Construction as a foreman in 2000, quickly moving to TIC The Industrial Company as a general foreman mechanical within the same year. His expertise and leadership skills led him to Alstom Power, where he held multiple roles from 2001 to 2010, including lead technical field advisor, mechanical manager, and site manager. Mr. Smoak’s career expanded when he joined PIC Group Inc. in 2010 as a senior field engineer, a role he held until 2014 before moving to APR Energy as a GT mechanical technician and plant manager until 2015.

Mr. Smoak honorably served his country as an SSG in the Airborne Infantry with the U.S. Army from 1985 to 1988 and as an airborne instructor at the U.S. Army Airborne School, underscoring his discipline and leadership qualities that he would later utilize well into the future.

Becoming highly educated, Mr. Smoak’s foundation includes diverse studies, including engineering and law enforcement coursework. He is a graduate of the Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course. He also holds certifications in power plant field engineer and assessment through the Power Plant Training Center in Switzerland and criminal justice through North East Texas Community College.

Mr. Smoak’s commitment extends beyond his professional endeavors into civic engagement. He is actively involved in his local church as a preacher, choir member, and volunteers for various events and charities. His dedication to service was also evident during his time as a volunteer police officer.

Throughout his career, Mr. Smoak’s contributions have been recognized with numerous awards. At Alstom Power, he was recognized for his innovative contributions, notably designing tools that revolutionized pipe re-exchange processes without needing machine opening or recommissioning. This achievement earned him the Innovations of the Year Award in Paris. Among other honors, Mr. Smoak was a nominee for the Innovation of the Year Award was named the Instructor of the Year at the U.S. Army Airborne School in 1994 and received several military honors reflecting his exemplary service. Among these honors, he was decorated with six Achievement Medals, four Good Conduct Medals, and four Army Commendation Medals.
