Highly sought after for her insight, she is also the co-author of “AI for the Rest of Us,” published in 2023, and was a keynote speaker at SXSW EDU in 2024.

Prior to her current role, Ms. Rudden led an illustrious career at IBM, where she held several key positions, such as the owner of the AI at Scale / Trusted AI offering. Ms. Rudden led the development of a comprehensive data science profession that prioritized understanding and solving specific business problems. She held the roles of distinguished engineer and chief data officer, playing a pivotal role in transforming IBM’s managed services division into Kyndryl, a $20 billion company. Her efforts in workforce transformation empowered 23,000 individuals with new skills in just 16 months. Earlier roles at IBM included senior technical staff member, senior IT architect for information delivery and technical team lead and programmer.

Ms. Rudden’s academic background includes a Master of Arts in anthropology from the University of Denver in 1998 and a Bachelor of Arts in classical archaeology from Florida State University in 1996. Her educational achievements have significantly contributed to her success in developing human-centered artificial intelligence using cognitive science.

Throughout her career, Ms. Rudden has earned numerous certifications that underscore her expertise. These include the Distinguished Data Scientist – Professional Certification from The Open Group in 2024, a Master Inventor designation from IBM in 2019, and several other professional certifications from The Open Group and IBM between 2004 and 2018. She attributes her accomplishments to her innate authenticity, exceptional ability to cultivate meaningful relationships, and insatiable curiosity.

Ms. Rudden is also deeply involved in various industry-related organizations such as The Linux Foundation, The Open Group, Women in Technology, the IBM Academy of Technology, and the Center for Advancing Safety of Machine Intelligence (CASMI). Her civic affiliations include serving on the board of trustees for Maryville University, participating in the technical advisory board for Future World Alliance, and serving as a luminary for Women in Tech (WIT) through the Colorado Technical Association. Ms. Rudden’s contributions extend beyond her professional life into community service. She actively participates in STEM and STEAM initiatives, Girls Who Code, The Blue Bench, and volunteer work with U.S. Army spouses.

Ms. Rudden’s personal life is equally fulfilling; she enjoys reading, playing her cello, hiking, walking, swimming, and working with kids. Together with her husband, who is retiring as a medevac pilot with successful missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, they have raised two wonderful children.
