In addition to her role as an owner, Ms. Horton served as an adjunct professor at the International Academy of Design and Technology from 2008 to 2014. During this time, she shared her extensive knowledge and experience with aspiring designers, contributing to the development of future talent in the field. Before this, she was the chief executive officer of Facility Resources Inc., doing business as Camille Horton Design Consultants from 1984 to 1991. Ms. Horton’s career began as a project designer at Miles Treaster & Associates from 1976 to 1984. This foundational experience provided her with valuable insights into the industry and honed her design and project management skills. She has been recognized throughout her career for outstanding contributions, including being featured in Healthcare Design National Publication and participating in an ASID National Advertising Campaign in 2013. She also won second place in ASID for a Bank of Stockton project in Modesto, California in 2002 and was named Designer of the Year by the Council of Ceramic Tile in 1984.

Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics textiles from San Luis Obispo, completed in 1975, and an Associate degree in economics from Contra Costa College in 1972. These academic achievements laid the foundation for her successful career, giving her a strong understanding of design principles and economic factors that influence the industry. Additionally, Ms. Horton is a certified interior designer in California, further solidifying her credentials.

Ms. Horton’s success can be attributed to her proactive approach and ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues. She credits her Uncle Ray for teaching her the importance of being personable and humorous, qualities that have served her well throughout her career. Her strategic decision-making when faced with competitive challenges exemplifies her ability to maintain long-term client relationships.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Ms. Horton is actively involved in civic organizations such as volunteering with Campfire Girls, demonstrating her commitment to community service.
