Ms. Childers’ leadership extends to guiding a team of roughly eight direct reports, demonstrating her adeptness in navigating complex operational challenges.

Prior to her current position, Ms. Childers held several critical roles at the Swiss medical equipment manufacturing company, marking a progressive career trajectory that underscores her expertise and dedication to quality and efficiency in manufacturing. From 2021 to 2024, she served as the site quality head in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, where she led a significant project to implement a more risk-based approach at Alcon. This initiative resulted in annual savings of $2 million without requiring any capital investment, showcasing her ability to drive substantial improvements. Before this achievement, Ms. Childers was the senior manufacturing manager between 2019 and 2021. Earlier roles included serving as a senior quality engineering manager and quality operations manager in County Cork, Ireland, between 2017 and 2019 after beginning her career with Alcon in Houston as a manufacturing production supervisor from 2015 to 2017.

Ms. Childers’s professional foundation was built upon a distinguished tenure in the United States Navy from 2005 to 2015, where she served in various capacities, including as an operations officer on the USS CHAFEE and reactor controls division officer on the USS Lincoln. Her military service was instrumental in honing her leadership skills and instilling a disciplined approach to her work in the civilian sector.

In preparation for her career, Ms. Childers’s academic background included degrees from several prestigious institutions. She received a Bachelor of Science in computer science from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2005, a Master of Science in computer science from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2006, a master’s degree in engineering and industrial management from Old Dominion University in 2014, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin in 2017. Ms. Childers is pursuing a Master of Science in legal studies at Cornell University to enhance her professional prospects further. Additionally, she holds certification as a project management professional and a manager of quality and organizational excellence.

Ms. Childers is a professional member of the American Society for Quality. Beyond her professional endeavors, she is committed to giving back to her community through involvement with such civic organizations as the Vision Resource Center of Berks County on its board of directors from 2022 to 2023. During her time in the Naval Academy, Ms. Childers volunteered with the Midshipman Action Group between 2001 and 2005.

Ms. Childers’s service has been decorated with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and Achievement Medal in 2007, 2008, 2011, and 2012 for her contributions.
