KIRKLAND, WA, February 27, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Catherine H. Garrow (LICSW) has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Garrow is a respected social worker and therapist who founded Unbound Minds PLLC (formerly Catherine Garrow PLLC., a private and independently owned business, from 2021 to 2023) in 2023 as the company’s owner. Focusing her business on providing children, individuals, couples, and families with counseling services, she helps them address various mental health concerns to get them back on track.
Dedicated to her clients, Ms. Garrow’s approach is based on cognitive behavioral therapy, which is widely recognized as the most effective form. It involves changing the clients’ thinking patterns, which can be maintained long-term and helps them develop positive changes in their behavior. Additionally, Ms. Garrow is well-versed in trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy, as well as psychodynamic, family systems, strength-based, and person-centered therapy.
Ms. Garrow helps patients aged six to 72 deal with trauma, loss, sexual and physical abuse and neglect, and post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as behavioral challenges found in children, including attention deficit hyper disorder, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, and addiction, and adolescents making various life choices. Additionally, Ms. Garrow works with patients on the bipolar spectrum and those with schizophrenia. She provides her services primarily via telehealth but also in person.
Ms. Garrow was recently offered a newly-designed part-time position with the Redmond, Washington, Police Department to collaborate on creating a strong social work/police program. She will play a significant role in caring for the mental health of the chief and his team so they can practice wellness in their lives and high-stress career. The position, which will commence in March 2024, will involve training social workers and providing therapy to police officers as well as higher level law enforcement officers not necessarily in the field.
Before establishing Unbound Minds PLLC, Ms. Garrow was a social worker for the Bellevue School District’s evidence-based design programs and at Headstart. Drawing a sense of satisfaction in her work, Ms. Garrow remains committed to helping patients develop positive behavioral changes. Her commitment to her clients’ well-being has been evident in the results they achieve and the positive feedback they give her. Additionally, she worked for several years at Youth Eastside Services in several roles including as a youth/family counselor, on the emergency response team for immediate therapeutic needs at schools where a tragedy (overdose, abuse, suicide) occurred, at a teen center, and as on on-site counselor at the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club.
Ms. Garrow experienced a traumatic childhood that included poverty and homelessness. She also had to learn at a young age how to grow into parenting a child with lifelong disabilities. She wants to use her story of an imperfect life and extreme hardship to encourage others to not let these types of challenges define their lives and ultimately their ability to reach their goals.
Ms. Garrow graduated from Eastern Washington University in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in sociology, summa cum laude. She also garnered a Master of Social Work with a concentration in clinical therapy and health care, summa cum laude, from the University of Washington in 2012. Moreover, Ms. Garrow received designation as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and is pursuing a SUPDT (Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee) license. As part of her ongoing professional commitments, Ms. Garrow is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.
