Mr. Miller has built a distinguished career in program management and development, focusing on engineering in aviation as a U.S. Department of Defense contractor. Since 2018, he has served as the director of programs at CymSTAR, where he is responsible for standardizing program practices across the company. His role involves assigning program managers and administrators to various projects, recruiting and motivating staff, and reviewing reports from program managers. Mr. Miller also collaborates with government and commercial customers to address potential issues and holds overall profit and loss responsibility for all CymSTAR contracts while managing the department budget.
Before his current position, Mr. Miller was the director of business development at CymSTAR from 2015 to 2018. In this role, he focused on expanding the company’s market presence and securing new business opportunities. He also excelled as a principal program manager between 2014 and 2015, leading complex projects and ensuring their successful execution. From 2011 to 2013, Mr. Miller was a senior program manager at CymSTAR, overseeing multiple programs and driving their completion.
Mr. Miller’s journey with CymSTAR began in 2008 when he joined as a program manager. Prior to CymSTAR, he was self-employed with Midwest Steel Sales from 2005 to 2008. Earlier in his career, he was an airport manager at Hoyer Ireland Ltd. between 2004 and 2005.
Attributing much of his civilian success to his foundation in the U.S. Air Force from 1980 to 2004, Mr. Miller was an aircraft maintenance and operations functional manager for the 2A6/2A7/2R career fields. This military experience was pivotal in shaping his leadership skills and professional growth.
Mr. Miller’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska Omaha, completed in 1990, an Associate of Applied Science in Aircraft Accessories Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force in 1990, an Associate of Applied Science in instructor technology in 1998 and a Master of Science in general administration from Central Michigan University in 1998. His professional credentials also include a financial management certificate from Cornell University, a project management professional designation from the Project Management Institute and a private pilot’s license from the Federal Aviation Administration.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Miller is actively involved with civic organizations, such as the Special Olympics, demonstrating his commitment to community service. In light of his military accomplishments, he was recognized as the Detachment Chief of the Year in 1999.
