Mr. Wilson is a distinguished professional currently serving as the director of business process operations at TK Elevator in Atlanta. Since 2021, he has been instrumental in overseeing the accounts payable and cash applications departments while leading continuous improvement efforts for the shared services organization, which comprises approximately 300 employees. His role involves ensuring efficient invoice payments and proper application of customer payments to respective projects. Mr. Wilson collaborates extensively with cross-functional teams to enhance processes and remove obstacles that may hinder day-to-day operations.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Wilson was the quality director for the shared service center at TK Elevator from 2019 to 2021. Before joining TK Elevator, he held several key positions at GE Power, including global operations leader from 2013 to 2019, senior operations manager from 2011 to 2013, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB) from 2008 to 2011, and commercial manager from 2004 to 2008. He joined the company in 2002 as a project engineer and project manager, remaining in those roles until 2004.
Mr. Wilson’s military service is equally commendable. He retired as a commander from the U.S. Navy Reserve (NR) in 2014 after serving as a Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa liaison officer to the Inter-Agency Partnership for Security and Stability Training and Coordination/ East Africa Security Force with the United States Africa Command in 2013. Additional Navy Reserve roles included chief of staff for Undersea Warfare Operations DET X from 2011 to 2013, administrative officer and training officer for the Navy Personnel Command from 2008 to 2011, executive officer for Commander Submarine Group 8 DET A from 2005 to 2008, and executive officer for Trident Refit Facility DET B from 2002 to 2005. He began his military career as a submarine division officer with the United States Department of the Navy from 1994 to 1999, followed by his role as a test and evaluation manager at the Naval Sea Systems Command from 1999 to 2002. Mr. Wilson’s military accolades include a Meritorious Service Medal, a Joint Service Commendation Medal, three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Wilson pursued higher education, setting the foundation for his professional success. He earned a Master of Science in systems engineering from Virginia Tech in 2001 and a Bachelor of Science in systems engineering, with merit, from the United States Naval Academy in 1994. He also completed advanced nuclear engineering coursework at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command from 1994 to 1995. Mr. Wilson’s certifications include a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Submarine Warfare Officer, and Navy Nuclear Engineer, as well as various advanced leadership and program management certifications, reflecting his comprehensive expertise in both technical and managerial domains.
Mr. Wilson’s career is marked by several notable achievements, including three TK Elevator Finance awards in 2020 and 2021 and being named Operational Leader of the Year in 2018 out of a pool of 5,000 employees. In 2011, he ranked No. 1 of 15 Navy commanders and received a nomination for Black Engineer of the Year in Government in 2000. He was also inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame for football at Cambridge South Dorchester High School, serving as a testament to his excellence both on and off the field.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Wilson has been involved in civic organizations, including the Wounded Warrior Project and Habitat for Humanity International. He also volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America from 2008 to 2009 and continues to support his local church.
Mr. Wilson attributes his success to his calm, driven nature and a strong desire to excel. His courage and willingness to take risks have shaped his diverse career. In his Navy retirement speech, he emphasized the value of embracing risks and failure, sharing how he learned from his setbacks and relentlessly moved forward. Outside his career, Mr. Wilson enjoys spending time with his wife, playing with his dog, riding motorcycles, traveling and maintaining his lawn.
