Having begun her career in 1991, Dr. King garnered experience as a computer programmer at her alma mater, Rutgers University, before transitioning to become a substitute teacher in Camden, New Jersey. She served as the vice principal at Memorial Middle School in Willingboro from 2000 to 2003 and at Fountain Wood Elementary School between 2003 and 2005. In 2005, she became the principal of B. Dr. King has been active in the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association, the National Association of Elementary School Principals, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the New Jersey Education Association, and, among others, the National Educational Association.
