As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Hultberg, president of TMP Excellence LLC, has built a distinguished career in the steel industry, particularly in producing tinplates for food containers. His extensive experience and unparalleled results make him one of the few individuals in the U.S. with such specialized knowledge.

Over five decades ago, Mr. Hultberg began his career in a steel company laboratory in 1968, where he focused on troubleshooting production issues and interacting with customers to understand their needs. His work involved modifying products to meet specific customer requirements, which laid the foundation for his extensive technical knowledge. Over time, Mr. Hultberg transitioned to various roles that expanded his expertise. He briefly worked in a research department for a steel corporation and delved into food corrosion studies.

In 1985, Mr. Hultberg became the corporate manager of product and process technology for coated products at National Steel Corporation. He held this position until 1988 before becoming the technology manager at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp. in Yorkville from 1989 to 1996. Subsequently, Mr. Hultberg served as the technical manager at Roll Coater Inc. in Weirton between 1996 and 1998. His career continued to progress as he took on the role of manager of process control at Ohio Coatings Company from 1998 to 2016, eventually retiring from this position. Soon after retirement, Mr. Hultberg founded TMP Excellence LLC in 2018, a one-person consulting firm where he continues to leverage his vast experience.

Mr. Hultberg holds a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from West Virginia Wesleyan College since 1968 and a Master of Science in chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University since 1974. His academic achievements have been instrumental in his career success, providing him with a solid foundation in chemistry and technical problem-solving.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hultberg has been actively involved in industry-related organizations. He was a member of the National Association for Surface Finishing, ASTM International and the National Coil Coating Association. He also chaired the tinplate technology committee for the Association for Iron and Steel Technology twice. Mr. Hultberg’s contributions extend beyond his professional life by volunteering with animal welfare organizations.

Mr. Hultberg remains open to new opportunities that may have different technical requirements. Although he has received several professional offers from outside the U.S., he hesitates due to the distance from home.
