Marquis Who’s Who Honors Ingemar Davidson, MD, PhD, for Dedication to the Field of Medicine

Dr. Davidson is a distinguished figure in the field of nephrology and renal transplant surgery. After serving more than 30 years as professor of surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital, both in Dallas, he is an adjunct professor of surgery at Tulane University in New Orleans, and he directs Training and Certification in Dialysis Access courses in South Carolina with Dr. John Ross. He is also the founder of the Kidney Academy in Dallas, a global, multidisciplinary clinical community of physicians, nurses and other clinicians who are dedicated to patients with end-stage kidney disease that requires lifesaving access to dialysis.

A native of Sweden, Dr. Davidson began his professional journey with an extensive academic background. His dedication to research and academia led him to establish the Kidney Academy in 2018.

For the past two decades, Dr. Davidson has been the co-director of Controversies in Dialysis Access (CiDA), an annual conference and educational forum for surgeons, radiologists, nephrologists and medical staff who care for dialysis access patients. This co-director’s role underscores his commitment to addressing complex issues in dialysis access and improving patient outcomes.

Dr. Davidson is a member of several prestigious organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, and The Transplantation Society. He has also served as the past president of the Texas Transplantation Society and as a board member of the Southwest Transplant Alliance organ procurement institution, and currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Vascular Access.

Throughout his career, Dr. Davidson has made significant contributions to medical literature. He is the author or co-author of several influential books, including “Peritoneal Dialysis: Surgical Technique and Medical Management,” “Access for Dialysis: Surgical and Radiologic Procedures,” “Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation,” “Handbook of Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation” and “On Call In… Vascular Access: Surgical and Radiologic Procedures.” His books on dialysis have been instrumental in shaping practices and improving patient care in the field.
