Ms. Gardner has dedicated more than five decades to her profession. Currently serving as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of EarthGroupGlobal.org, since 1975, she has been instrumental in steering the organization toward its global outreach and sustainability goals. Her tenure at EarthGroupGlobal.org has been the highlight of her career, showcasing her commitment to environmental advocacy and education.

At the same time, Ms. Gardner was deeply involved in academia as Associate Professor and now Professor Emerita at Parsons/The New School. From 2009 to 2022, she served as an Associate Professor specializing in social-ecological history and design. Her influence extended beyond the classroom through her role as a workshop leader from 2011 to 2022, where she facilitated learning experiences that bridged theoretical knowledge with practical application.

Ms. Gardner’s career also includes her involvement with the Buckminster Fuller Challenge as a juror from 2010 to 2011, where she evaluated innovative projects aimed at solving global issues. Additionally, she co-organized “Water Fight – Fracking, Food, Art & Economy” at The New School from 2000 to 2001 and served as a senior faculty member at Parsons/The New School from 1990 to 2008.

Ms. Gardner’s academic background has been foundational to her success. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English language, literature and letters at Smith College in 1962. Three years later, she attained a Master of Arts in Architectural History from Columbia University in 1965.

Across her illustrious career, Ms. Gardner has amassed numerous professional achievements, including speaking engagements and contributions to prestigious programs and seminars worldwide. Notably, she was a speaker for the UNESCO Artists for Peace program in Prague, focusing on ecological approaches to lighting. Ms. Gardner also participated in a pavilion presentation in Kassel, Germany, attended by over 800,000 people, and engaged in professional programs at Philip Johnson’s Glass House in Connecticut and the Cranbrook seminar for teachers in Michigan.

In recognition of her contributions to the field of architecture and environmental sustainability, Ms. Gardner has received special recognition from the New York City AIA Committee on the Environment. This accolade underscores her impact on promoting sustainable practices within the architectural community and beyond.

Looking ahead, Ms. Gardner is focused on developing online courses aimed at empowering young women in their early 30s who are seeking clarity about their roles in the world. Through this initiative, she hopes to extend her influence by nurturing the next generation of leaders committed to making positive changes in their communities and the environment.
