    COLUMBIA, MD, May 24, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Jocelyn A. Whitfield, MBA, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who. Ms. Whitfield has been serving as Chief Executive Officer of the Center for Creative Life and Learning Inc. in Columbia, Maryland, since 2014. In this role, she oversees an array of comprehensive program services impacting lives of young individuals and, families. Her leadership extends to coordinating a diverse team of professionals and volunteers to deliver cultural experiences, mentoring, leadership, and educational opportunities to children who might not otherwise have access to them. In her work, she demonstrates her commitment to promoting healthier communities focusing on youth leadership development and positive parental engagement.

Prior to her current endeavors, Ms. Whitfield dedicated over two decades to public health as a senior public health advisor at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Rockville, Maryland. From 1992 until her retirement in 2015, she contributed significantly to national health initiatives and policies. She also served as a Brooking Legis Fellow for Senator Carol Mosely Braun. As a representative for SAMHSA/ HHS she served on various congressional workgroups including women’s health, faith and community, early childhood, welfare reform, and various interagency groups. She also served as the Project Officer and Principal Developer for several national government publications. Her work aided in fulfilling President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama’s agendas to advance initiatives such as the Affordable Care Act.

Through her work, Ms. Whitfield observed how poverty impacted people of color, especially young children and upon retirement lent her expertise to establishing a non-profit organization to assist the plight of homeless women and children and later a program to mentor and develop the leadership potential of young girls and now boys.

Ms. Whitfield’s extensive experience in public health and community work has garnered considerable acclaim.

She is the recipient of various SAMHSA, HHS and Presidential Achievement Awards for Distinguished Service. A resident of Howard County, she served as one of the Howard County Maryland Commissioners for Human Rights and received the Howard County Distinguished Service Award, and the Casey and Pebble Willis Making a Difference Award.

In addition, as part of her continued commitments in her field, Ms. Whitfield is a member of various community coalitions promoting health and wellness, and education.

Ms. Whitfield’s professional journey is underpinned by her academic background. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Virginia Union University in 1968 and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in public health from National Louis University in 1990. Ms. Whitfield is contemplating furthering her education by pursuing a doctorate and continuing her personal and professional growth trajectory.

Ms. Whitfield is also an author of several faith-based books and a convener of conferences and retreats.
