Well-regarded for his outstanding accomplishments in the industry, Mr. Hyman was personally honored as a Leading Lawyer in the state of Illinois from 2010 to 2019.

NEW BUFFALO, MI, March 18, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Joshua Sidney Hyman, Esq., has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Hyman was born in Washington, D.C. in 1963. When he was four years old, his family moved to Rome, Italy where his father, Sidney Hyman, authored a book on the 1969 First Vatican Council. Mr. Hyman’s family then moved to the Hyde Park community in Chicago, Illinois where he attended the University of Chicago Laboratory School until his graduation from high school in 1981.

Hailing from more than three decades of experience in the field of legal service, Mr. Hyman is best noted for his expertise in financial law. Serving for much of his career as the head of the Bank Practice Group at Chuhak & Tecson, P.C., a mid-size law firm based in Chicago, Illinois, he notably founded that Bank Practice Group and ultimately grew that team from just himself to over 35 attorneys, an expansion of operations to New York, and, ultimately, preeminent status in the Chicago metropolitan area, with hundreds of banks, credit unions, lender service providers and the FDIC amongst his and the firm’s clients. Well-regarded for his outstanding accomplishments in the industry, Mr. Hyman was personally honored as a Leading Lawyer in the state of Illinois from 2010 to 2019.

Prior to his career endeavors, Mr. Hyman double majored in history and behavioral science and law at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1985. Following this accomplishment, he attended the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, during which time he seized the opportunity to study at Cambridge University’s School of Law in Cambridge, England. After his first year of law school, Mr. Hyman worked at the Illinois State’s Attorney’s Office in Chicago, Illinois in the Appellate Division. Drawing from the example of his father who had worked in the White House under the Kennedy and Johnson administrations, Mr. Hyman spent much of his collegiate years working in government, serving for two summers as a legislative aid in the Wisconsin State Senate and later, during the last six months of his legal studies, earning a prestigious legislative position in the office of Bill Bradley, former U.S. Senator from New Jersey. It was his hope and desire that Senator Bradley would be a formidable contender for the United States presidency and that Mr. Hyman would be able to parlay his legislative aid experience in Senator Bradley’s Washington D.C. office into a position in the White House. When Senator Bradley did not win the 2000 primaries Mr. Hyman returned to his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Hyman went on to receive a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1989.

After his admission to practice law in Illinois, Mr. Hyman worked for four years at the boutique law firm Laser, Schostok, Coleman & Frank, a financial law firm based in Chicago. Gaining experience in both litigation and transactional matters, he subsequently launched his own practice out of the second floor of his house where he continued to focus on the representation of financial institutions and how to run a law practice. In the years to follow, Mr. Hyman went on to become a shareholder in the law firm Fumagalli, Tecson & Hyman P.C. Thereafter, Mr. Hyman and his partners merged their law practice with a mid-size law firm, Chuhak & Tecson, P.C. where Mr. Hyman founded and chaired that law firm’s Bank Practice Group for 19 years.

Remaining active with Chuhak & Tecson for more than 19 years, Mr. Hyman eventually retired in 2018. Upon retiring from private practice at Chuhak & Tecson, Mr. Hyman was asked by a former client, West Town Bancorp. n/k/a Integrated Financial Holdings Inc. (IFH) and West Town Bank & Trust, to serve as an Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Counsel of the organization. In this capacity, he provided effective leadership for IFH’s legal, compliance and human resources departments until the Fall of 2021, whereupon he retired to focus on volunteer opportunities as well as consultative work with former banking clients and Windsor Advantage LLC, where he remains active today.

Outside of his primary professional efforts, Mr. Hyman has served throughout much of his career on the board of directors at several bank holding companies, and on the boards of a number of nonprofit organizations. To remain aware of developments in his field, he maintained his affiliation with various professional groups, including the American Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, and the Illinois State Bar Association. Likewise dedicated to civic service, he volunteered as an assistant coach for the New Buffalo High School boys varsity basketball team, which rose to the top of its division in Michigan and ended the 2022 season as the eighth overall scoring team in the nation.

In accounting for his success, Mr. Hyman largely credits his innate ambition, drive and keen marketing skills as a business developer. Among his most dearly held accomplishments, he is particularly proud to have risen from humble beginnings to recognition as one of the top banking lawyers in Chicago; the explosive growth of the Chuhak & Tecson banking department; and the fact that not one attorney left the firm’s banking practice to take a job with a competing law firm during his tenure as practice chairman. Looking toward the future, his goal is to serve as a mentor to those who might seek to follow his example and pursue their own entrepreneurial endeavors. He is extremely proud of the mentorship he provided to young lawyers and law students and looks forward to continuing his efforts in that regard. Mr. Hyman also hopes to maintain his lifelong commitment to the people in the communities he has resided in as well as further nonprofit involvement and government service on the horizon.
