In this leadership position, she oversees operations and programs for the non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the art of Taiko drumming. Prior to accepting this distinguished role, she excelled as the director of education at Parkinson Wellness Recovery from 2021 to 2022, focusing on developing educational programs that support wellness recovery, and between 2020 and 2021, Dr. McGaha thrived as the program manager at Taiko Community Alliance, demonstrating her deep commitment to the organization by returning in a more senior capacity.

Dr. McGaha’s tenure in the retail industry was also rewarding. In the role of corporate trainer and store systems trainer from 2011 to 2013 for Ross Dress For Less, she played a pivotal role in the company’s expansion into new markets and spearheaded an initiative that doubled the workforce. This involved recruiting and training new hires, contributing significantly to site launches and the establishment of a comprehensive training corporate program. Additionally, Dr. McGaha excelled in an earlier role as the executive team leader at Target, where she honed her skills in operations, talent acquisition and leadership development.

Dr. McGaha’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in linguistics from the University of Arizona in 2007 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2009. She also earned a terminal degree in her field after finishing a doctorate in management and organizational leadership from the University of Phoenix in 2018. Notably, Dr. McGaha’s dedication to continued learning has led to numerous industry designations, including the Certified Trauma Support Specialist credentials from the Arizona Trauma Institute in 2019, among others.

To maintain active networks and forge productive professional relationships, Dr. McGaha is an active member of the International Leadership Association and the Academy of Business Research, where she engages with peers and participates in vital discussions about leadership and business research. Additionally, she was proud to be named an alumni lead research fellow at the University of Phoenix from 2018 to 2021, which allowed her to contribute significantly to academic research, and Dr. McGaha’s role as a PS-MAPP certified instructor at CPES Loving Hearts between 2013 and 2017 further demonstrated her versatility and dedication to community service.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Dr. McGaha is deeply involved in civic associations such as serving as the executive secretary for Arizona Matsuri and engaging in volunteer work with various organizations including the Head Start Program since 2018 and the Suzuyuki-Kai Japanese Dance School since 2010. Her commitment to community service is further evidenced by her involvement with local food banks and educational outreach through Taiko drumming instruction. Additionally, Dr. McGaha has made significant contributions to academic and mainstream literature with publications such as “Dr. Widow, A Book of Two Journeys … and How to Survive Them Both” and independent articles that explore Generation Z’s leadership preferences.

Dr. McGaha thrives on her role as a mother to three children, and she achieves balance by writing and drumming in her spare time.
