Ms. Walsh is a respected attorney and partner at Littman Krooks LLP, which has offices in Westchester County, New York, and New York City, where she has been a pivotal figure over the past decade. With a career spanning over three decades, she has established herself as a pivotal force in education law and mental health, in advocating, particularly for children, teens and young adults with mental health conditions, during an ongoing public health crisis in this area. In her role, she manages a talented team of attorneys and advocates within the firm’s special education department while ensuring that vulnerable youth have appropriate educational support and placement.
Ms. Walsh was hired by her firm in 2012 and became a partner in 2017. Before this, she worked as attorney at other education law firms and began her legal career at a prominent large NYC firm right after law school. Beyond her legal practice, Ms. Walsh was a legal editor in a leading boutique publisher, Brownstone Publishers from 1995 to 2006.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Walsh received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, summa cum laude, from Long Island University in 1986 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from New York University in 1989. At NYU Law, Ms. Walsh enjoyed legal philosophy courses and studied, among other treatises, John Rawls’s A Theory of Justice, and derived inspiration from the theory that a just society should devote the maximum resources to its most vulnerable members. Her study and these academic achievements have been instrumental in her professional success, providing a foundation for her legal career and dedication to social justice. Additionally, Ms. Walsh holds several certifications that further underscore her commitment to her profession and community. She has been certified as an impartial hearing officer by the New York State Education Department since 2010 and obtained the youth mental health first aid certification from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing in 2014.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Ms. Walsh is actively involved in various professional and civic organizations. She deems public service important and has volunteered with the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) Westchester since 2017. She served on the Board of Directors of NAMI Westchester for two terms, from 2018-2024 and served as Board President during 2023-2024. She is an Ending the Silence presenter on suicide prevention, with NAMI Westchester. As a military parent, Ms. Walsh also has volunteered as a founding member of the Blue Star Mothers of the Hudson Valley and has helped start their suicide prevention grant program to support veterans’ organization. Ms. Walsh also served as a trustee for a Board of Education in a Westchester District from 2007-2016. She is also an active member of Chappaqua Friends Meeting where she has attended for over 25 years. She is a member of the Westchester Women’s Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
Ms. Walsh is also a prolific speaker and presents frequently with local groups on education law and at the National Business Institute since 2012. Her contributions to public discourse on legal matters have been well-received and have further solidified her reputation as an authority in her field. In light of her success, Ms. Walsh also been included in Super Lawyers every year between 2020 and 2024 and was named Advocate of the Year in 2014.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Walsh plans to continue her dedicated service while exploring new roles. Personally, Ms. Walsh has four adult children and three grandchildren and is inspired by them every day. She has been married 32 years to Will Walsh, another attorney. She adores animals and loves hiking with her Labrador Retriever and Great Pyrenees mix and savors reading with her two cats.
