He previously served as the vice president of information technology at GSE Environmental between 2011 and 2019, which was acquired by Solmax in 2017. Mr. Whitelaw’s tenure was critical in significantly increasing the company’s EBITDA and preparing the company for a successful sale to Solmax alongside his now current chief executive officer, Bob Preston.
Mr. Whitelaw’s career began with roles that laid a strong foundation for his future accomplishments. From 1995 to 2003, he was a senior infrastructure and security architect at Halliburton in Houston. During his tenure, he successfully deployed infrastructure in war zones such as Baghdad and Afghanistan, supporting U.S. troops and military operations. Mr. Whitelaw also garnered success as a consulting infrastructure and security architect at KBR Inc. from 2003 to 2008 and as a professional security consultant at one of the largest multinational chemical firms, LyondellBasell Industries between 2008 and 2011.
After graduating from New Caney High School in 1987, Mr. Whitelaw continued his education at Kingwood College. He also received several relevant designations, including a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) through the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2 Inc.), a Microsoft Certified Professional, and Certified Network Administrator credentials. These academic achievements and certifications have been instrumental in shaping his career trajectory.
Mr. Whitelaw is an active member of ISC2 Inc., reflecting his commitment to maintaining high standards in information security. He has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including the prestigious Chief Information Security Officer of the World Award in 2024 and a five-year service award recognizing his dedication and contributions to the field.
