Mr. Racicot has dedicated over 35 years to the nuclear power industry, culminating in a distinguished career marked by technical expertise and a commitment to safety. He retired in 2020 as a G1 surveyor at Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories, BHI Energy Canada, in Ontario, Canada. Mr. Racicot spent five years in this role, responsible for instrumentation and calibration, analyzing samples with germanium lithium detectors, and determining the combination of elements in various samples to ensure worker safety. His work included monitoring air samples, contamination levels, and radiation levels.

Before joining Chalk River, Mr. Racicot was a radiological engineer at Bartlett Nuclear from 2010 to 2014, focusing on As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA), a guiding principle of radiation safety. His assignments took him to Bruce NPP in Canada, Susquehanna, Kewaunee, Calvert Cliffs, and Nine Mile Point. Mr. Racicot also served as the radiation protection supervisor at Bartlett Holdings Inc. between 2011 and 2012, working at Point Beach NPP, GE-Hitachi Global Nuclear Fuel, and Prairie Island NPP.

Mr. Racicot’s extensive experience also included serving as a senior health physics technician at Dominion Nuclear CT’s Millstone Nuclear Power Plant, as a health physics technician for Bartlett Nuclear across various U.S. nuclear power plants, and as a decontamination technician at San Onofre in California, dating back over 40 years ago.

Throughout his career, Mr. Racicot’s work was very technical and involved instrumentation and calibration, analyzing samples in a laboratory with germanium lithium detectors, and determining the combination of elements in a sample to ensure the safety of workers. He was consistently recognized as the go-to person for analyzing various aspects of the job.

In addition to his civilian career, Mr. Racicot served four years as a hospital corpsman and field medical technician in the U.S. Navy. This military experience provided him with a strong foundation in medical and technical skills that he later applied to his work in the nuclear industry.

Mr. Racicot’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in biological and physical sciences with a minor in mathematics from Worcester State University in 1973 and graduate studies in oceanographic sciences at the University of Rhode Island in 1977.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Racicot is an associate member of the Bermuda Biological Foundation.
