Rev. McPherson has dedicated her career to chaplaincy and health care, serving as the assistant director in Chaplaincy Services of Sibley Memorial Hospital at Johns Hopkins Medicine since 2024. In this role, she leads a team of chaplains, including volunteers and staff, and provides counseling and support to families and staff during challenging­ times. In addition to her specialties in theology, clinical and non-clinical services, and religious studies, her work involves implementing programs within the hospital to support staff and patients.

Before her current position, Rev. McPherson served as a staff chaplain at Johns Hopkins HealthCare from 2020 to 2024, providing spiritual care and guidance to patients and their families. From 2013 to 2020, she worked as a patient services specialist at Johns Hopkins Medicine, where she honed her skills in patient interaction and support. Before joining Johns Hopkins, she was a freelance business manager for The McPherson Group from 2012 to 2013.

Rev. McPherson’s early career began in the United Kingdom, where she worked as a clerical officer at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust from 1990 to 1994 and served as a broadcast assistant at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) News in Manchester from 1994 to 2003. Her professional journey also includes a significant tenure as the business and administration manager at the British International School of Washington from 2003 to 2012, where she managed administrative operations.

Before venturing onto her vocational path, Rev. McPherson pursued a storied education that proved instrumental in her success. After earning a Master of Divinity, cum laude, from Lancaster Bible College Capital Seminary and Graduate School in 2021 and a Master of Arts degree cum laude in Christian Care in 2020, she also graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in biblical studies from the same institution in 2018. Additionally, she holds an associate degree in Business Administration and Management, focusing on marketing, from Penn Foster College.

Rev. McPherson’s certifications include an ICF member badge from the International Coaching Federation from 2023 to 2024, Clinical Pastoral Education from ACPE: The Standard for Spiritual Care and Education, and a certificate in ministry as an ordained Elder from the Calvary Bible Institute. She is also pursuing a doctoral degree in Strategic Leadership to enhance her knowledge and skills further.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Rev. McPherson is actively involved in civic organizations. She serves as the vice chair of the Ministerial Alliance at Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church, where she contributes to community outreach and support initiatives. To deepen her dedication to the field, she is a board-certified chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains.

Rev. McPherson attributes her success to her deep faith in God and the influence of her godmother, who instilled values that have guided her for over 50 years. Her commitment to making a meaningful contribution to health care is inspired by her mother’s nursing career and her lifelong appreciation for the hospital environment.

Outside of her career, Rev. McPherson is passionate about music and interested in studying artificial intelligence. She is the mother of two children and is committed to enhancing resources for individuals of all faiths and those without specific beliefs. Looking to the future, her vision includes emphasizing the importance of listening skills, developing tailored resources for those facing difficult situations, and creating a brand called The Practical Chaplain to empower individuals on their journeys.
