From 2018 to 2022, he was a senior manager of solutions management at Canadian National Railway (CN), where he played a pivotal role in overseeing critical train control systems. This role came after serving as a manager of train control systems for the railway between 2016 and 2018, where he honed his skills in understanding train operations and technical aspects.
Before joining CN, Mr. Whitlock was employed by Wabtec Integrated Systems, initially as a technical program manager and then as the director of system engineering. His time at Wabtec was marked by his involvement in implementing the first viable positive train control system in Brazil from 2012 to 2015, which provided him with many opportunities in the railroad sector.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Whitlock managed integrated train control systems at Xorail from 2012 to 2016. He also garnered success as a software test manager at Wabtec Railway Electronics between 2011 and 2012 after serving in the same capacity at NCS Pearson Education for over a decade, beginning in 2000.
Mr. Whitlock’s educational background includes an Associate of Arts and Sciences in computer programming from Kirkwood Community College in 2003. While working toward his degree, he received the Most Outstanding Student Award in 2002. His academic achievements have been instrumental in his success, providing him with a strong foundation in computer programming and information technology.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Whitlock is actively involved in civic-minded organizations. He participates in charitable activities through the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and volunteers for various organizations in the Chicago metro area. His commitment to community service also extends to volunteering at food banks and assisting local schools in preparing for the new school year.
Among his most notable accomplishments, Mr. Whitlock’s journey in the industry began in 2000 as a mainframe programmer for Y2K, which laid the foundation for his future accomplishments. He also significantly contributed to the success of Positive Train Control in the U.S. and worldwide. His dedication and hard work were also recognized when he received the Best New Manager Award at NCS Pearson Education in 2005.
