He has been called on for over 650 cases throughout the course of his career in 32 states, three Canadian Provinces, and the Middle East.
CASTLE PINES, CO, July 18, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Robert H. Pratt, FCPE, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Having been involved in the construction industry for more than 50 years, Mr. Pratt has served as a principal of Demand Construction Services Inc. since 1987. Even as its president, his primary duty is to give testimony in litigation involving construction issues. Mr. Pratt provides expert guidance on whether or not a party has violated codes or failed to deliver on the terms of a contract, including delays and impacts, and the monetary value of those violations. He has been called on for over 650 cases throughout the course of his career in 32 states, three Canadian Provinces, and the Middle East. Additionally, Mr. Pratt has offered his services as an instructor for the Associated General Contractors of America’s Supervisory Training Program.
Prior to joining Demand Construction Services, Mr. Pratt owned and operated Pricin Corporation, a consulting firm that provided cost estimates, scheduling, and administrative services for construction projects. He has demonstrated his commitment to teaching the next generation in his field through numerous classes and seminars and mentoring new consultants. In his roles as a senior engineer and project consultant at Kellogg Corporation, Mr. Pratt evaluated major claims, such as the reconstruction of the Las Vegas MGM Grand Hotel following the 1980 fire, a $30 million claim on an offshore oil tanker loading platform in the Persian Gulf, and a $100 million sludge incineration facility in St. Paul Minnesota. He also analyzed costs, and causes related to delays to the construction and opening of the Denver International Airport. His career started as a project manager at Weaver Construction Company in 1971, where he helped solve problems in the construction of challenging projects, including schools, apartment complexes, power plants, shopping centers and more.
Mr. Pratt built the foundation for his success with a strong education. He earned a Bachelor of Science in architectural engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1971. Mr. Pratt became a Certified Professional Estimator in 1976 and a Fellow in 1991. He credits his success to his faith and the church communities in which he has participated.
To remain aware of developments affecting his field, Mr. Pratt has maintained professional affiliation with a number of pertinent organizations. He joined the American Society of Professional Estimators in 1973, and served as its national president from 1982 to 1984. He has been a member of the American Subcontractors Association, and the Associated Builders and Contractors. Mr. Pratt has also contributed his expertise as a member and past-chair of the Contract Content Advisory Council of ConsensusDocs, a publisher of a suite of construction contracts, and he is an associate member of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Construction Law (“ABA-FCL”).
One of the greatest accomplishments of Mr. Pratt’s career originated in 2014 when he began creating a legacy document in the form of a reference book for experts and attorneys. This side project turned into a five-year journey that culminated in his first book, “The Effective Use of Forensic Experts in Construction Litigation,” which was published by the ABA-FCL in 2019. Bringing together fellow experts and construction attorneys who contributed their perspectives in this book remains a great source of pride for Mr. Pratt.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Pratt enjoys playing golf, playing his trumpet, and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Though he has already made an impact throughout a lengthy career, he has no plans to retire in the foreseeable future. Instead, Mr. Pratt aims to continue providing meaningful support to his clients, a process he remains deeply passionate about. He also plans to aid the construction of new facilities for his church, bringing together his professional capabilities with his strong commitment to his faith.
