Her role as an adjunct professor at St. Petersburg College from 2018 to 2022 further highlights her dedication to education and mentorship.
Dr. Desmore’s career also includes significant roles such as director of strategic opportunity services at General Dynamics Information Technology from 2016 to 2020 and global technology sourcing manager at American Express Global Business Travel from 2015 to 2016. Her earlier positions include senior manager of contracts at General Dynamics Information Technology from 2011 to 2014 and vice president of technology business sourcing at Citi in 2011. Among her other notable career achievements, Dr. Desmore served as a senior contracts negotiator at Lockheed Martin from 2008 to 2011. Her dedication and focus were fueled by her impactful military service in the United States Army during the Gulf War/Desert Storm, which was curtailed due to a serious knee injury.
In addition to her professional achievements, Dr. Desmore is actively involved in industry-related organizations. She serves as a board member for the National Veterans Small Business Coalition, has been a member of PMI since 2009, and member of the Society for the Advancement of Management since 2011. Her commitment to fostering future professionals is evident through her role as student chapter chair and contributing member for the National Contract Management Association since 2007.
Dr. Desmore’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Technology Management from St. Petersburg College in 2005, followed by a Master of Science in Management of Acquisition and Contracts (specializing in Government Contracting) from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2008. She earned her Doctorate in Business Management with a specialization in information technology management with a focus on software technology acquisitions from Capella University in 2021. Beyond her professional life, Dr. Desmore is deeply committed to civic engagement. Since 2016, she has volunteered with animal rescue organizations such as Husky Haven of Florida, as well as Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida Inc. since 2015. Additionally, she actively promotes veteran suicide awareness and supports veteran initiatives across military communities. On a personal note, Dr. Desmore was born in New York but has spent much of her life in Florida. She enjoys spending time at the beach, traveling with her son, and spending time with her family.
