Mr. Arshad is a Senior Systems Modeling Engineer at Lucid, where he has been instrumental in advancing the company’s automotive innovations since 2021. Initially joining the motor vehicle manufacturing company as a Systems Modeling Engineer, he has significantly contributed to the Efficiency, Performance & Systems team. His expertise has also been pivotal in developing the new SUV model set to launch later this year. In 2024, Mr. Arshad was promoted to the senior engineer role, where he now leads several vital projects.
Beginning his career in 2012, Mr. Arshad joined the local chapters of two international student organizations at his then alma mater GIK Institute (GIKI). He grew to the Marketing Director role at AIESCEC in GIKI. That same year, he became the Technical Head at American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) GIKI Chapter. In 2015, he became the chapter’s Technical Director. After graduating, between 2016 and 2017, he rose from a Management Trainee Officer at Softwood Textiles to an Assistant Manager in Pakistan, where he represented top brands and increased export order bookings by over 100% within less than a year. Mr. Arshad really garnered success as a Product & Applications Engineer at VPL Ltd., a Panasian Group company, between 2017 and 2019. At VPL, he was the Product & Applications Engineer and oversaw several projects, most notably, he was the lead engineer for the TransPeshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. This internationally acclaimed bus rapid transit system in Peshawar, Pakistan. This project as ‘Gold Standard’ by the ITDP’s BRT Standard – this ranking is based on a BRT system’s services to all sectors of society, number of routes, convenient services to specially determined people, and promoting clean technology. As lead engineer, Mr. Arshad was tasked with supplying, designing, manufacturing, testing and delivering the buses. Before joining Lucid, he held several research positions at Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research in 2020 while pursuing his advanced degree.
Adding to his expertise, Mr. Arshad completed internships at Kansai Paint Company Ltd., Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Kamra and MAN Energy Solutions. He also completed an engineering internship in e-mobility at BMW of North America LLC.
Mr. Arshad’s academic background is robust. He completed his pre-engineering studies at Lahore Grammar School and The City School, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology in 2016 and a Master of Science in Automotive Engineering from Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research in 2021. Mr. Arshad’s professional certifications are equally extensive and include credentials from LinkedIn, The MathWorks Inc., and Udemy Inc. He also holds a Lean Six Sigma green belt certification from Lean Sigma Corporation.
Mr. Arshad’s dedication to his field is evident through his patent – while working at BMW – for multi-motor integration with a cell-level inverter vehicle powertrain. This achievement underscores his innovative contributions to automotive engineering. In recognition of his success, Mr. Arshad’s group received the first prize in the Intra-Faculty Senior Year Design Project Competition at GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology in 2016. He also won an Outstanding Achievement Award for the TransPeshawar BRT Project from VPL Ltd., Panasian Group, in 2019.
