As the president and owner of Cove Wealth Management (CWM), she and her husband are leaving a legacy of generosity. Under her leadership and vision, the firm has a God-sized goal of giving away more than $1 million of the firm’s revenue over the coming decade to aid efforts supporting vulnerable children in CWM office cities. Those cities are currently Houston, TX and Albuquerque, NM.
Mrs. Mizell’s journey in the financial sector began when she attended a Crown Financial Ministries class at the age of 18. That experience transformed Mrs. Mizell’s fear of money into an understanding of principles and positive habits that laid the foundation for her future strategic pivot into wealth management. Sarah began her career at ConocoPhillips, where she worked from 2009 to 2014. She was promoted multiple times and worked in several roles on the Natural Gas trade floor, in the Crude Marketing group, and throughout the ConocoPhillips Commercial organization.
In 2014, Mrs. Mizell joined Valued Retirements as a director of marketing and financial advisor; she soon became a partner. In 2015, Sarah became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional after completing the associated classes through Rice University. Her passion and vision led Sarah and her husband to purchase the company in 2021 and rebrand it as Cove Wealth Management. As senior financial advisor and vice president from 2022 to 2024, she continued to drive growth and innovation within the firm by expanding its reach and merging with Forthright Financial Planning in Albuquerque, NM.
Mrs. Mizell’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from New Mexico State University, both earned in 2009. Her academic achievements have been instrumental in her success, providing a strong foundation for her dual expertise in finance and communication.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Mrs. Mizell is actively involved in several faith organizations, including the Spiritual Financial Gathering (SFG) in Houston. She is also engaged with Houston’s First Baptist Church and Trinity Classical School, reflecting her commitment to community service and spiritual growth. Her “retirement plan” is to become a university professor, where she can continue the legacy of teaching, mentoring, and impacting the next generation.
In her personal life, Mrs. Mizell prioritizes her family, which includes her husband Cory Alan Mizell and their four children. Together, they are passionate about financial stewardship and have set ambitious goals for their firm, including mentoring future advisors through an internship program that empowers women and other traditionally underrepresented groups to make a collective community impact.
