From 1992 to 2003, Mr. Geist was elected assemblyman in New Jersey. His legislative career is marked by several notable achievements, including his sponsorship of the Equal Rights Amendment, for which he was honored by the Women’s Political Caucus. Additionally, he received recognition from the Technology Educators Association of New Jersey for his support of technology literacy initiatives for children.

Next, George Geist served as a state senator in New Jersey with leadership on the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate State Government Committee. Assemblyman Geist was instrumental in advocating for transparency and accountability in government, which culminated in the creation of the Open Public Records Law (OPRA). His most recent responsibility involved serving as the supervising judge of workers compensation in New Jersey. Nominated to the court by two governors and receiving four unanimous confirmation votes, from 2004 Judge Geist oversaw the administration of workers’ compensation claims, ensuring fair and efficient resolution for all parties involved. His leadership in this role was characterized by a commitment to justice and the well-being of New Jersey’s workforce.

Driven by his early experiences as class president and editor of his high school paper, which ignited his passion for journalism and public service, Mr. Geist laid a strong foundation for his career achievements through his educational background. He earned a Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School in 1981, where he demonstrated exceptional legal acumen by appearing before three justices of the New Jersey Supreme Court while still a student, winning the prestigious Stratten Moot Court Championship. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and government, graduating cum laude from Ursinus College in 1977.

Mr. Geist attributes his success to the principle of maintaining a positive mindset, which was instilled by his parents and inspired by Norman Vincent Peale’s “The Power of Positive Thinking.” The philosophy has been a guiding force throughout his life, propelling him forward and enabling him to navigate challenges with resilience and optimism.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Mr. Geist is a devoted husband of Brenda and proud father of Greg and Justin and grandfather to their young daughters Claire, Hannah and Sofia.
