Ms. Goodman is a distinguished professional in the field of education, currently serving as the director of multi-tiered systems of support for secondary schools at Friendship Public Charter School. With nearly two decades of experience in her profession, she has dedicated her career to advancing literacy and educational initiatives on behalf of students. In her current role, she oversees six middle schools and two high schools, working closely with schools on literacy initiatives, conducting observations, and leading professional development sessions on implementing the science of reading shifts. She also manages the science of reading professional development for over 200 teachers in the district, ranging from grades 6 through 12.

Ms. Goodman’s career journey has been marked by significant milestones and leadership roles. She founded Self-Care Fetties, a digital curator of self-care strategies for body positivity, where she serves as chief executive officer. She previously distinguished herself as an assistant principal at District of Columbia Public Schools, where she focused on promoting excellence in high school education. Prior to this position, she functioned as the head of schools for elementary and middle school at the Office of Education Innovation, a middle school assistant principal for the DC Public Schools, an instructional specialist for high school central office support, and the director of curriculum and instruction at Breakthrough Public Schools, where she initially began her career as an English teacher in 2006.

Ms. Goodman holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Toledo, from which she graduated in 2006. Following this accomplishment, she obtained a Master of Education in adult learning and development from Cleveland State University in 2009 and a Master of Science in administration with a focus on education leadership from Trinity Washington University in 2022. In addition to her academic credentials, Ms. Goodman holds several certifications, including an administrative services credential for pre-kindergarten through grade twelve level administrator from the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) and Maryland educator certifications for Administrator I and Administrator II from the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). She attributes her success to her faith and prayer, believing that divine guidance has played a crucial role in her ability to impact education worldwide.

Ms. Goodman is actively involved in several industry-related organizations, including the District of Columbia State Organization of Delta Kappa Gamma, Pi Lambda Theta, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Her dedication to education has earned her recognition as a highly effective assistant principal and Teacher of the Year for two consecutive years.

Outside her professional life, Ms. Goodman enjoys reading. She volunteers through Delta Kappa Gamma and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., contributing to various civic-minded initiatives. Looking ahead, she aims to work at the state level on literacy initiatives, with aspirations to join either the U.S. Department of Education or the Department of Defense to influence education policy significantly.

Ms. Goodman’s most notable achievement includes being recognized by Lexia for conducting a webinar on comprehensive literacy plans available on demand on their platform website. This webinar focused on supporting other districts and leaders in developing literacy plans related to the science of reading and literacy. Additionally, she will be featured in an article and case study by Lexia aimed at supporting districts worldwide in implementing literacy across the curriculum.
