Prior to her ongoing positions, she was instrumental in launching ASTM International’s e-learning program as manager of technical training and e-learning from 2013 to 2021. From 2018 to 2021, Ms. Lawson-Beard was an adjunct professor at Jefferson University. Before that, she built a successful career at CubeSmart, where she worked between 2002 and 2013. By 2008, she had risen to the head of training and employee development, a position she held until her departure in 2013. Earlier, she served as an LMS administrator and divisional trainer from 2006 to 2008, following her time as a regional trainer in 2005. Ms. Lawson-Beard originally joined CubeSmart as an area manager and district trainer, roles she held from 2002 to 2005.
Ms. Lawson-Beard’s academic achievements have been pivotal in her career success. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Valdosta State University, which she completed in 2000. In 2003, she earned a Master of Arts in organizational management from the University of Phoenix. Ms. Lawson-Beard later obtained a Master of Education in e-learning leadership and technology from Drexel University in 2013, equipping her with advanced skills in educational technology.
Beyond her degrees, Ms. Lawson-Beard has obtained several certifications that enhance her professional capabilities. She completed the “Greg McKeown on the Art of Getting Effortless Results (Without Burning Out)” course from LinkedIn Corporation in 2022 and earned DE&I Ambassador certification from ASTM in 2021. Moreover, she attained certifications in Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, as well as Unconscious Bias from LinkedIn Corporation in 2021, following a Certified Professional in Talent Development designation from ATD in 2017.
As a commitment to her field, Ms. Lawson-Beard maintains numerous professional affiliations. She has served on the board of trustees for Collegium Charter School since 2024 and was previously an advisory board member for customer experience at George Washington University School of Business from 2021 to 2023. During the same period, she chaired the energy advisory board at IACET and was also part of the PNG advisory board from 2018 to 2021. Additionally, Ms. Lawson-Beard is a member of an artificial intelligence advisory board.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Lawson-Beard enjoys working out as a means to maintain balance and well-being amidst her busy schedule. Looking ahead, she is focused on growing her program over the next five to 10 years while exploring opportunities to increase departmental income significantly. Ms. Lawson-Beard is also devoted to establishing an international training center during an upcoming visit to the United Arab Emirates, reflecting her forward-thinking approach and global perspective on education and training development.
