Before accepting her current appointment, Ms. Phillippi was the membership manager at the Greenville County Museum of Art from 2005 to 2013 where she advanced her skills in fostering community engagement and expanding membership bases. In that role, Ms. Phillippi relied on the significant experience gained during an earlier tenure as the assistant director for tax knowledge services at Ernst & Young from 1995 to 2005, where she developed a keen understanding of complex organizational structures and strategic planning.

Ms. Phillippi initiated her career as an intelligence officer with the Directorate of Science and Technology at the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington D.C. between 1987 and 1990. Ms. Phillippi also thrived as a human resources intern at ESSO Suez/ExxonMobil Egypt in Cairo in 1992, gaining critical experience on a global platform.

Exceptional academic accomplishments further define Ms. Phillippi’s profile. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of the South in 1986 before pursuing graduate studies and demonstrating her commitment to continuous learning. Ms. Phillippi now holds a Master of Arts in Middle Eastern studies from American University in Cairo, Egypt, and an International Master of Business Administration in international business from the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business, both of which she earned in 1993.

Ms. Phillippi has also pursued professional designations to further solidify her presence in the field. Specifically, she completed a language immersion program in Arabic language and literature at Middlebury College in 1990 and participated in the part-time graduate intelligence program at National Intelligence University in 1989. Ms. Phillippi’s early exposure to international relations through the Sewanee Collaborative Study Abroad at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1983 also reflects her commitment to professional development.

Ms. Phillippi credits her success to adaptability and an ongoing enthusiasm for learning. She also actively seeks opportunities for civic engagement and is humbled to be affiliated with the Simpsonville Arts Foundation and the National Intelligence Foundation. Her personal interests include hiking, which provides a necessary balance to her professional obligations and fuels her passion for exploration and discovery.
