Among many responsibilities, Dr. Hunko manages customer relationships, develops business opportunities, oversees personnel management, ensures quality management, and directs production management.
Prior to his current position, Dr. Hunko served as a manufacturing engineer specializing in additive manufacturing at Daniel Defense LLC from 2018 to 2023. In 2018, he briefly worked as a research assistant at Boeing, focusing on additive manufacturing for the Space Launch System’s equipment shelf and thrust structure. His earlier career included roles at Auburn University, where he was a machinist between 2012 and 2018 and simultaneously held positions as a graduate teaching assistant and graduate research assistant from 2013 to 2018.
Additionally, Dr. Hunko contributed as a manufacturing engineer at Focus Engineering from 2013 to 2015 after initially garnering experience as an undergraduate teaching assistant and research assistant at Auburn University from 2012 to 2013.
Dr. Hunko’s academic achievements are foundational to his success. He earned an associate’s degree from Enterprise State Community College in 2011. He then received a bachelor’s degree in 2013, a master’s degree in 2015, and a Doctor of Philosophy in mechanical engineering in 2018 from Auburn University. Complementing his academic credentials are certifications such as Failure Analysis from ASTM International.
Dr. Hunko’s involvement with civic-minded organizations, such as Outpost Cares underscores his commitment to community engagement.
Throughout his career, Dr. Hunko’s work has included projects like developing wire 3D printing parameters and analyzing cutting forces with tool wear analysis. He has also contributed significantly to academic literature with publications on topics such as affordable computer numerical controls for universities.
Throughout his career, Dr. Hunko has been recognized with numerous awards, including an Alabama Senate Resolution, serving as the Auburn Spring ’18 Engineering Graduate Marshal, receiving the Enterprise State President’s Cup Recipient award, being named to the All-Alabama Academic Team, and being listed among Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities. Looking ahead, he aims to advance within Outpost Technologies by aspiring to become vice president of manufacturing while continuing to contribute significantly to the company’s growth. Ultimately, Dr. Hunko envisions retiring after years of dedication and sharing his extensive knowledge by teaching at a university.
