Mr. Diebel has cultivated a distinguished career in trust and estate administration, serving as a senior estate officer and senior vice president at First Citizens Bank since 2024. In this role, he manages estate administration for deceased individuals, overseeing a diverse portfolio that includes ranches, commercial real estate, residences, stocks, bonds, jewelry and art. Mr. Diebel’s responsibilities also encompass handling transactional work, tax issues and various legal problems.

Recruited after serving as the principal fiduciary officer and vice president at Bank of the West from 2018 to 2024, Mr. Diebel also worked in real estate as a realtor with Hill & Co. Real Estate between 2014 and 2018, where he gained valuable insights into the real estate market. Mr. Diebel served as the senior vice president and senior trust officer at Wells Fargo from 2005 to 2012. His tenure there was marked by significant achievements, including traveling to Italy three times a year to manage grants for a wealthy family and support charities. His fluency in Italian facilitated collaboration with the president of the Italian Red Cross in Rome. Earlier in his career, Mr. Diebel was the vice president and senior trust officer at Citigroup Inc. between 1999 and 2005.

Mr. Diebel’s career began with roles such as director of gift planning at The Art Institute of Chicago from 1995 to 1999 and second vice president and trust officer at Northern Trust between 1981 and 1993. These positions laid the foundation for his expertise in trust administration and estate management.

In preparation for his future, Mr. Diebel garnered a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and marketing, cum laude, from the University of Denver in 1981. He also received a fine and decorative arts diploma, with honors, from Christie’s Education in London in 1994. Mr. Diebel attributes much of his success to his quality education, particularly his strong command of spoken and written English, which developed during high school in the Chicago suburbs.

Beyond his primary initiatives, Mr. Diebel is an active member of the San Francisco Estate Planning Council and various private clubs. He volunteers with the Saint Anthony Foundation and Saint Dominic’s Church in San Francisco. Moreover, Mr. Diebel has served on the boards of prestigious cultural institutions, such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, and the Smuin Ballet in San Francisco.

Mr. Diebel remains committed to staying active and plans to continue working for many more years despite being of retirement age. He enjoys giving back and looks forward to future opportunities.
