He also garnered success as a licensed insurance agent with Golden Circle Life Insurance Company, where he spent over a decade assisting clients and managing the agency’s municipal bonds portfolio.

Apart from his expertise in public service, Mr. Rawls is well-regarded as an active member of several local and national organizations, including Leadership Tennessee and the NAACP. He was also elected to serve on the Tennessee Veterans Home board of directors by Governor Bill Lee in 2023, serves on the board of directors for the United Way, and multiple advisory boards related to education. Moreover, Mr. Rawls is recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow Rotarian. Most honorably, he served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves for eight years, where he trained as an X-ray technician.

Mr. Rawls holds a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in banking and finance from Morehouse College and a master’s degree from Lipscomb University. His educational journey includes leadership programs at the Delta Regional Leadership Institute Executive Academy and The Naifeh Center for Effective Leadership Institute for Public Service. Furthermore, Mr. Rawls completed the authentic leadership program at Harvard Kennedy School and holds credentials as a licensed funeral director and certified economic developer.

In light of his success, Mr. Rawls was honored to receive the Be More Visionary Award from UT Extension for implementing “Healthy Moves.” His faith plays a significant role in his life and is a cornerstone of his achievements.
