Before joining Google in 2024, she worked as the Senior Director of Product Management at Splunk, where she has been instrumental in leading the product management team since 2020. In this role, she oversees a team of product managers, curates strategies and crafts roadmaps for software development, and collaborates with go-to-market teams to ensure customer satisfaction. Throughout her tenure, Ms. Diao’s deep expertise in managing products and collaborating with engineering counterparts has proven pivotal in driving innovation, business growth and bringing values to customers. In recognition of her product management leadership, she was also invited by Singapore GovTech to provide special coaching and consulting services as a Singapore Smart Nation Fellow. Before joining Splunk, Ms. Diao excelled as the Director of Product Management and Strategy at Cisco from 2016 to 2020, where she played a crucial role in shaping the company’s strategic direction in data center and machine learning. She is known as an intrapreneur for creating impact and driving innovation in a business.
Ms. Diao initiated her career at Avago Technologies where she thrived as a product engineer from 2004 to 2006. She then progressed to an appointment with iCognitive, where she served as a supply chain consultant from 2006 to 2009 and later as a business development manager until 2009. Ms. Diao’s tenure at McKinsey and Company between 2011 and 2016 marked a significant milestone in her career, where she led many strategy, go-to-market and operational improvement projects for Fortune 500 companies. She was also honorably selected as the first Engagement Manager in McKinsey’s Growth Tech Practice, focusing on startups and pre-IPO companies.
Exceptional academic credentials laid a strong foundation for Ms. Diao’s achievements. Ms. Diao proudly earned a Master of Business Administration from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in 2011, where she was recognized as a Fuqua Scholar in 2011 and made the dean’s list in 2010. She was also the only Fuqua student in her year who received offers from 4 top consulting firms including McKinsey, Bain, BCG, and Deloitte. Additionally, she holds a Master of Science in Innovation in Manufacturing Systems and Technologies from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (2004) and a Bachelor in Electronics and Information Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China (2003).
Ms. Diao attributes much of her success to the unwavering support of her parents and her husband’s encouragement and assistance. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys dancing, including both traditional Chinese and contemporary styles, and spending quality time with her children.
