After an outstanding career in medicine and science, Dr. Prada founded the Nutrition Emphasis Center PLLC in Rochester, Michigan in 2009. To promote the importance of nutrition in society, which he believes is essential, Dr. Prada is currently in the process of expanding its operations so that it can offer services to more of those in need.
dr Prada was previously affiliated with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center as a faculty member in the Division of Neonatology and Bone Research Center. He then became a faculty member and director of clinical research at the College of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, at the University of Cincinnati, where he spent 25 years focused on nutrition, cardiovascular and disease prevention research. During his years on campus, Dr. Prada also served on several professional committees and chaired the faculty senate of the Human Relations Committee. Earlier in his career, Dr. Prada between 1979 and 1980 in his native Columbia as a doctor.
Aside from his primary career endeavors, Dr. Prada has served as a consultant on behalf of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on genetics and the environment in preterm and low birth weight infants, with much of the emphasis on racial/ethnic minorities. dr Prada also advised the International Dietary Energy Consultancy Group on the biological mechanisms of environmental causes of intrauterine growth retardation.
As an experienced researcher in the medical field, Dr. Prada, with support from the NIH, was principal investigator of numerous clinical nutrition studies, where he focused his studies on the effects that micronutrients have in preventing disease in mostly high-risk populations. He disseminated his knowledge in particular through the publication of numerous scientific articles in medical journals. In addition, Dr. Prada has written various teaching materials for medical and nutrition students. In addition to his documented work, he has spoken publicly at several professional symposiums and workshops and conducted numerous scientific presentations in the United States
After his bachelor’s degree, Dr. Prada continued his studies and received his doctorate in medicine from the National University of Colombia. He also completed an internship at the Central Military Hospital in Columbia, followed by a residency in Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Regional General Hospital in Columbia and a second residency in Emergency Medicine at the Bucaramanga Clinic. In addition, Dr. Prada received several postdoctoral research fellowships in hypertension at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and in perinatology and nutrition at the University of Cincinnati. In 2006 he received board certification as a clinical nutritionist. dr Prada speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.
As part of his professional commitments, Dr. Prada is a member of the American Society of Hypertension, the American Society for Nutrition, the American Heart Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Canadian Nutrition Society. He is also recognized as an elected Fellow of the American College of Nutrition.
dr Prada received a Service Award from the University of Cincinnati in 1992 to recognize its achievements. He was previously awarded the Best Intern of the Year by the Central Military Hospital in 1978.
