TEMPE, AZ, January 19, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Paola Hartley has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Hartley is recognized for her dedication to the arts as a talented dance instructor for more than two decades. She began teaching in 2001 and quickly flourished as a sought-after teacher. In addition to teaching, she has been a Ballet Mistress with the State Street Ballet since 2018, and as the Rehearsal Director for Ballet Counterpointe since 2022, both based in California.

During her tenure as a dancer, Ms. Hartley was affiliated with Ballet de Santiago, beginning in 1993, and was promoted to soloist in 1997. She notably performed the role of Myrtha in “Giselle,” and held several leading roles in “Eugene Onegin,” “Peer Gynt,” and “The Devil to Pay,” among others. Ms. Hartley moved to Arizona to join Ballet Arizona in 1998, performing alongside numerous guest artists and holding leading roles in a multitude of productions. She also notably had the opportunity to perform in many Balanchine pieces during her career. Ms. Hartley also co-directed and performed with a local company called Novaballet from 2008 to 2009 and performed principal roles in “Swan Lake,” “Agon,” “Romeo and Juliet” and others after joining The Suzanne Farrell Ballet in 2013.

Ms. Hartley has toured in New York City, Stuttgart, Germany, Buenos Aires, and Budapest. She also performed at a gala in Albania and at the Miami International Dance Festival. Moreover, she garnered extensive recognition as a guest artist in the Chilean television show, “Rojo Fama Contrafama,” where her father also served as a judge and was a judge on the SOBREVIVIENTES YouTube virtual dance competition. Among other opportunities, Ms. Hartley was a guest faculty member at the Goh Ballet Academy in Vancouver, Canada, in 2011 and 2012.

Following in the footsteps of both her parents who were ballet dancers, Ms. Hartley notes that they met in Ballet de Santiago, married, and worked in Europe before traveling to South Africa and returning to Bonn, Germany, where she was born. Ms. Hartley’s father was a Principal Dancer and her mother was the First Soloist at P.A.C.T Ballet. They are both founding members of Ballet de Santiago in Chile. While coming of age, she recalls watching numerous ballet rehearsals and quickly gravitated toward a career in dance after her parents saw potential in her.

In her free time, Ms. Hartley devoted over two years to volunteerism as a pet adoption counselor with the Arizona Animal Welfare League between 1998 and 2002.

A dance major in high school and college, Ms. Hartley studied at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She trained under the tutelage of Melissa Hayden, Duncan Noble, and other experts. A Balanchine muse from NYCB, Ms. Hayden is credited with introducing Ms. Hartley to George Balanchine.
