LtGen Rudder (ret) is the president of Stick Rudder Enterprises LLC, a defense consulting company he established in 2022 following his retirement from the military. LtGen Rudder focuses on assisting organizations through extensive collaboration and aiding the implementation of critical systems for foreign military sales. He led the first US Taiwan Defense Delegation to Taiwan since 2019.
Throughout his distinguished and honorable career in the U.S. Marine Corps, which spanned over 38 years, LtGen Rudder excelled, beginning as a commissioned officer upon graduating from The Basic School at Marine Corps Base Quantico. Designated as a Naval Aviator in 1987, LtGen Rudder’s assignments included AH-1 Cobra helicopter training with HMT-303, service with HMLA-367 during Desert Storm, as the HMLA-167 Squadron Commander, MAG-26 Commander during OIF, and Commanding General of 1st Marine Air Wing, Okinawa. His career encompassed numerous deployments overseas. As Deputy Commandant for Aviation, he managed all Marine Aviation aircraft procurement and sustainment programs to include the F-35 and all tactical fighters, the MQ-9 Reaper, MV-22 Osprey, and all Marine Helicopters. He retired from active duty as Commander of all Marine Forces in the Pacific in 2022.
His career is filled with numerous accomplishments with over 5000 hours in multiple aircraft and recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross in combat. LtGen Rudder is proud to have partnered with allies and industry partners and witnessed successful aviation programs such as the first deployment of the MV-22 and F35B in combat and the Marine F-35 deployment on the U.K. Carrier, Queen Elizabeth.
LtGen Rudder is a non-resident senior fellow of the Atlantic Council, which promotes constructive leadership and engagement in international affairs. He also remains a professional member of the Marine Corps Aviation Association, the Distinguished Flying Cross Society, and Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. Among other accolades, LtGen Rudder received Japan’s Order of the Rising Sun Award, Awarded by Minister of Defense Kishi, and the Korean Order of National Security Guksun Medal, signed by ROK President Yoon. He remains committed to give back to U.S. Marines and veterans.
A native of Connecticut, LtGen Rudder completed Kingwood Oxford Preparatory school in West Hartford, Connecticut, and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management from Boston University. He subsequently garnered a master’s degree in strategic studies from the United States Army War College.
