Mary Jane Rolen held a variety of responsible positions for the Social Security Administration (SSA) between 1998 and 2017, from Claims Representative, Operations Supervisor, Executive Assistant to the Regional Commissioner to the position of Team Leader for Civil Rights & Equal Opportunity. In 2016, Ms. Rolen was diagnosed with a brain tumor that almost took her life. She underwent surgery and fortunately made a full recovery before returning to the Social Security Administration in 2017. In her current role as a Management and Program Analyst, Ms. Rolen processes Physical Security workloads including the protection of the agency’s personnel and facilities, and the public it serves. She previously led Management Initiated Reviews & Investigations and currently leads processing of Administrative Sanctions cases.
Alongside her work with the Social Security Administration, Ms. Rolen successfully oversees Lazy Bear Cabins, LLC as Chief Executive Officer, and hosts the podcast “Usapang Pinoy,” through the Georgia Asian Times. An expert in her field, she earned a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Economics from St. Joseph’s College of Quezon City in the Philippines. Over the years, Ms. Rolen expanded on her professional knowledge, earning a Fundamentals of Agile Project Management Certification and a Generative AI Overview for Project Managers Certification from the Project Management Institute.
Ms. Rolen is the recipient of numerous awards in her career including “Performance Awards,” “Regional Commissioner’s Citations,” and the agency’s highest Honor Award, the “Commissioner’s Citation.” Outside of her work, Ms. Rolen contributes to her community as President of the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Georgia and as Board Advisor to the Galing Foundation, Inc. In recognition of her community work, she is the recipient of the prestigious “25 Most Influential Asians in Georgia” Award, both in 2021 and 2022; the “APA Community Leadership Award” from OCA Georgia; the “APA Making Waves Preservation Award” from the Asian Pacific American Historical Society; the “Empowered Women Award” from the National Federation of Filipino Americans; and the “Who’s Who in the Asian-American Communities” from the WWAAC Alliance Foundation.
Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, Ms. Rolen credits her success to the principles and values instilled in her by her parents, including the importance of honesty and integrity. Ms. Rolen added her family lives by the principle of putting “God first, Family second, Career third. Anything else will fall in place.” Looking toward the future, she intends to experience continued success in her career with the Social Security Administration before establishing her own consultancy.
