After his first year in private practice, he was selected as a 2023 Southeast Texas 40 Under 40 Honoree.
BEAUMONT, TX, July 16, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Micah M. Gibson, MD has been inducted into Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Upon graduating Magna Cum Laude from high school, Dr. Gibson attended Texas A&M University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA. While pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences, he was a founding member of Pi Kappa Alpha at Texas A&M, and he was awarded Scholar of the Year in 2012. Subsequently, he pursued higher education, obtaining his MD at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He then completed his residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Emory University. During his residency, Dr. Gibson performed research focusing on telemedicine and improving patient access to care during the COVID pandemic. Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, Dr. Gibson has authored numerous publications and presentations, including “Skeletal muscle salt inducible kinase 1 promotes insulin resistance in obesity,” “Osteoblastoma of the Temporal Bone in a Young Child,” and “Intermittent Neuromonitoring of the Recurrent Laryngeal and Vagus Nerves: The Ins and Outs.” While at Emory, he also coordinated weekly guest speakers for the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Grand Rounds Series.
Drawing on his strong academic and surgical background, Dr. Gibson continues to build his practice and is an upcoming partner at Southeast Texas Ear, Nose & Throat, LLP. As an otolaryngologist, he provides comprehensive care to patients in the outpatient setting, and he also serves as a consultant surgeon at two local hospitals.
Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Gibson aligns himself with the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head Neck Surgery, the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, and the Jefferson County Medical Society. In addition to his professional affiliations, Dr. Gibson contributes to his community and those less fortunate by donating to the Foundation for Southeast Texas.
In light of his professional achievements, Dr. Gibson received a grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases while in medical school. After his first year in private practice, he was selected as a 2023 Southeast Texas 40 Under 40 Honoree. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in completing his Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Residency at Emory. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his family’s support and his faith. Dr. Gibson aims to perform more cochlear implant surgeries within the coming years and build a comprehensive hearing center for Southeast Texas.
