Berry Aviation contracts aviation services to the Department of Defense. In addition to his work at Berry Aviation, he is an experimental test pilot for Universal Hydrogen. As a test pilot and leading expert on the De Havilland Dash 8 aircraft, Mr. Bockler is part of a diverse team consisting of two test pilots, engineers, maintenance, and support staff at Universal Hydrogen. This team’s goal is to build and conduct test flights on the United States largest hydrogen powered electric fuel cell airplane ever to take to the skies. Mr. Bockler also owns an aircraft where he provides private aviation services. At 47 years old, Mr. Bockler brings more than 30 years of experience in aviation to his current multiple roles.
An expert in his field, Mr. Bockler holds a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach Fl, and is a licensed stock car driver. In conjunction with his work, he aligns himself with his alma mater’s chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, of which he is a charter brother.
Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, Mr. Bockler has been featured in several publications and videos, including “Universal Hydrogen’s first Flight Day-of Documentary,” “Universal Hydrogen Dash 8 Completes first Flight,” and “Universal Hydrogen Begins Flight Testing for their Hydrogen Regional Aircraft at Mojave Air & Space Port.” In 2023. He was also honored in the October 2023 issue of the Wall Street Journal.

In honor of Universal Hydrogens achievements, when retired from test flights, the airplane’s electric engine is slated for display in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington DC. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his steadfast drive to excel and his drive to improve upon his skills.
Looking ahead, Mr. Bockler plans to pioneer a new trail in electric aviation pilot training.
