BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ, March 05, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Monib A. Zirvi, MD, PhD, dermatologist with Summit Health, was selected by Marquis Who’s Who for a prominent feature in the Northern New Jersey regional edition of Entrepreneur magazine.
Originally commencing a career in computer science, Dr. Monib A. Zirvi desired to conduct research, which led him to his current career as a dermatologist. Upon the completion of his medical training in 2004, he served as a dermatologist at Summit Health in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, an attending dermatologist at Atlantic Health Group’s Overlook Medical Center, and an adjunct clinical instructor at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. Additionally, since 2004, he has served as chair of the Alumni Schools Committee for Northern Middlesex County at Princeton University.
Dr. Zirvi is an investigator in research projects on diagnostics for cancer detection via DNA. Alongside his research, he was the 2010 co-author of “Acquired Perforating Calcific Collagenosis After Topical Calcium Chloride Exposure” in the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology and the 2005 co-author of “A Rapidly Growing Tumor and Dome-Shaped Yellow Papules on the Face” in Archives of Dermatology. Additionally, he is a co-patentee of “Detection of Nucleic Acid Sequence Differences Using the Ligase Detection Reaction with Addressable Arrays” and “Accelerating Identification of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms and Alignment of Clones in Genomic Sequencing.” Dr. Zirvi holds more than 10 patents in his field.
Dr. Zirvi has been honored as a Top Doctor by U.S. News & World Report, New Jersey Monthly and New York Metro Area’s Castle Connolly. In 2011, he received the Patient’s Choice Award and, in 2003, he earned the Beerman-Johnson Resident Research Award from the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. From 1993 to 2000, he was honored with a Medical Scientist Training Program fellowship through the National Institutes of Health.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Zirvi aims to continue working closely at one of Cornell’s laboratories to contribute to the constant advancements of science. He hopes that as the world progresses in all aspects of global development, peace can be made and society healed as a whole. Dr. Zirvi attributes much of his success to his hard work and dedication, in addition to his parents, Dr. Karimullah Zirvi and Mrs. Amatul Latif Zirvi, who instilled in him the importance of education. He would also like to thank his wife, Shazia Zirvi and his children, Usman, Aleena, Saif and Armaan for all of their support over the years.
Dr. Zirvi is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi and an associate member of the American Academy of Dermatology. He is also involved with AmFAR and the Summit Health Foundation.
Dr. Zirvi received a Bachelor of Science in engineering in 1993 from Princeton University and obtained dual Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Medicine degrees in 2000 from the Cornell University Medical College (now Weill Cornell Medicine). Subsequently, he completed an internship at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 2001 and a residency in dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania in 2004.
