Driven by a passion for service, Dr. DeShore began her career in 1981 as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) after graduating from high school. While pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at SUNY Downstate Medical Center’s College of Nursing, she joined the United States Air Force Reserves in 1983. Over the decades, Dr. DeShore continuously expanded her professional expertise, earning a Master of Science in Pediatric Advanced Practice Nursing and a post-master’s certificate in Nursing Education from the University of Maryland, and a Master of Public Affairs from the American University School of Public Affairs.
