Our sansar is pleased to announce that the company has won the grand prize in the International Aid and Development category this year charity prizesthe longest running and most prestigious awards program in the charity sector.
Our Sansar was recognized for his work rescuing children as young as 6 from the worst forms of child labor in Nepal – those who worked from dawn to dusk in extremely dangerous conditions in brick factories.
Now 93 children are being helped with education and families are being helped to provide rice for the amount the children were earning in the factories. In the meantime, the charity is working on a sustainable plan for the families in the future.
Their investigations into child labor in the brick factories led to the following conclusion: a documentary by VICE World News by Sahar Zand. Our sansar estimates that around 2,500 children work in brick factories across the district and hopes to expand the project to other areas soon. The charity will continue to push the boundaries and find new ways to address the issues faced by freeing children from illegal labor in Nepal and giving them access to education and a better future.
Along with the nine other category winners, the overall winner and the recipient of the Daniel Phelan Award for Outstanding Achievement, Our Sansar was presented with the trophy on June 7 at a ceremony hosted by the channel at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London. The Charity Awards shortlist is selected by an independent panel of experts, all of whom are eminent figures in the charity sector. The judges will evaluate each entry against six Hallmarks of Excellence before coming together for two days of challenges and discussions to select the winners.
