Since 2009 dr. Zakir has performed thousands of successful coronary and endovascular procedures in his role as an interventional cardiologist. At the RWJPE Heart and Vascular Institute of Central Jersey, he assesses his patients’ needs before performing complex coronary interventions. He also performs complex endovascular procedures on patients suffering from peripheral vascular disease at CVI, an outpatient laboratory at the practice.

Currently dr. Zakir Director of High-Risk PCI and Research at Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas University Hospital. He is also Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Rutgers Medical School, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and is involved in research and education. As a leader in interventional cardiology, he serves as principal investigator on several clinical trials aimed at improving the treatment of patients with coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial disease and venous disease. dr Zakir is the author of numerous papers and invited to lecture at conferences around the world. He is a co-founder of the New Jersey Cardiocular Foundation, which offers quarterly educational programs, and Cors at the Shore, a comprehensive cardiovascular CME gathering that was successfully held at Ocean Place, Long Branch last June and will be held annually.
