Robert Allan Morris Celebrated for Excellence in the Information Technology and Telecommunications Industries

Mr. Morris is grateful for a distinguished career in the realm of digital technology, most recently serving as the chief technology officer at First Payment International since 2021. Drawing upon more than three decades of professional experience in technical presales support, his career began in the early 1990s after his initial foray into the steel industry, where he subsequently transitioned to crucial roles in the management and monitoring of the Clean Air Act. First serving as an engineering intern in 1992, he then thrived as a systems engineer with Process Analysts Inc. between 1994 and 1996.

As time continued, Mr. Morris progressed into the field of mission critical monitoring and management for data centers. Shortly thereafter, he pivoted into telecommunications, first in voice and then in data and IPTV. Impressively, Mr. Morris brought digital voice, video and data to millions of households across rural America during his tenures with NEC eLuminant Technologies Inc. from 2000 to 2003, where he served as a sales engineer, a sales domain administrator and an account manager. Later, he worked as a consulting engineer for Pannaway Technologies from 2006 to 2007 and for IneoQuest Technologies Inc. as a technical trainer and field applications engineer from 2007 to 2009.

Following these early appointments, Mr. Morris moved from his native Colorado to Los Angeles, where he accumulated 15 years of experience in data management, data quality and data governance. From 2010 to 2021, he worked as a senior solutions engineer with Talend, through which he was recognized with numerous accolades, including a President’s Club honor. He also briefly served as the lead solutions engineer at Collibra from 2021 to 2022. From there, his cumulative knowledge in fintech was brought to First Payment International, where he thrives as the organization’s chief technology officer.

In addition to his vocational roles, Mr. Morris has been involved in numerous projects and publications. To wit, he contributed to the LAfaultEARTHquakeApp project and authored “ADSL 2+ Line Tuning for Quality and Performance” for the Iowa/Minnesota Telecom Association in 2004. Among many other projects, his work on intelligent ARC furnace neural network control systems at North Star Steel Texas in 1994 highlights his early contributions to engineering innovation.

Mr. Morris’ educational background includes a Master of Science in engineering management from Vanderbilt University, achieved in 2023, and a prior Bachelor of Science in electrical and electronics engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. His academic achievements have been complemented by certifications from LinkedIn and Talend, enhancing his skills in data governance and agile project management. Furthermore, Mr. Morris honors his membership in many organizations, such as Alpha Tau Omega, the Order of the Engineer, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Among his many career achievements, Mr. Morris was exceptionally proud of a pilot program he and his team of software and hardware integration engineers conducted for a large Mexican food restaurant chain in the Denver and Metro Denver areas. After he and his teams activated the program, the restaurant asked them to temporarily disable it, as they were unable to handle the sudden influx of customers. Notably, the owner of the restaurant chain boasted a $50,000 increase in revenue per month since that time.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Morris is deeply committed to civic engagement and mentoring future generations. His involvement with the IEEE as a congressional liaison underscores his dedication to advancing STEM education and U.S. competitiveness in global digital markets. He also aims to inspire students to pursue technical education through mentorship and advocacy for STEM fields and contribute philanthropically by establishing scholarships and grants for engineering students.

In his personal life, Mr. Morris enjoys beagles, football, lacrosse, hockey and computer gaming. Looking ahead in his career, he is dedicated to ensuring clean air and energy for all walks of life.
