RESTON, VA, December 19, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Robert Philip Swartz has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Swartz is the founder and chief executive officer of Performance Management Associates, among other entrepreneurial ventures. Prior to occupying this role, he studied at and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Colgate University and then earned an Officer’s commission in the U.S. Navy to serve his beloved nation for three years. He was awarded a Vietnam War Service Medal. After serving in the U.S. Navy, in an effort to capitalize on his talent for numbers that he noticed in the eighth grade, he pursued a Master’s Degree at The Wharton School, where he graduated in 1967 with a Masters of Business Administration in Finance.

Following his education, Mr. Swartz went on to shape his career in the financial sector, holding a range of positions at several distinguished companies, including Merrill Lynch, the now defunct Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, and American Express. Along with his experience in the financial sector, where his responsibilities included financial management and finance corporate planning, he has experience as a substitute teacher, working as a financial manager for the Federal government in Washington, and serving as a Fiscal Committee member for the Reston Association.

While at American Express, working as a corporate finance director in the Travelers’ Cheque division, among others, Mr. Swartz had and implemented new ideas about how to transform the use of computers and communications operations. Though the Corporation ultimately rolled back Mr. Swartz’s innovation, his ideas were welcomed elsewhere, and he transferred to the American International Group (AIG), where he founded AIG Data Center Inc. in January of 1982, one of his most notable career accomplishments. Through his efforts, AIG was able to sell computers and communication services to insurance companies, which resulted in a rebranding due to the newfound service and offerings brought to fruition by Mr. Swartz.

After his entrepreneurial efforts and innovation at AIG, Mr. Swartz ventured out to start his own company, which he has headed as the Chief Executive Officer since 1985. That same year, he also consulted for a new railroad firm, a short-line company run by Gary Marino, and pursued the creative endeavor of creating a business board game which he had U.S. copyrighted and internationally trademarked. More recently, after meeting a member of the Professional Advisory Committee of Clarewood University, who was also a teacher of game production at George Mason University, he has engaged this games professional to convert this board game into a computer game so it can be played, learned from, and enjoyed worldwide.

Along with being a business owner with an entrepreneurial fervor for nearly 40 years, Mr. Swartz is a member of the Professional Advisory Committee for Clarewood University and volunteers his time for the National Park Service on the National Mall and Wolf Trap National Park. As a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served as a Navy Officer Candidate School (OCS) graduate, his first assignment was Officer in charge of the Officer’s Club and the Bachelors Officers’ Quarters (BOQ) on Midway Island. Later he transitioned to assigned duty as the Gunnery Officer aboard the USS Valley Forge (LPH-8) whereon he served in the Vietnam War and was awarded a Vietnam Campaign Service Medal. He is still heavily involved with veteran organizations. Stemming from his veteran ties, Mr. Swartz serves as a volunteer at the Vietnam Veterans and World War II Memorials on the National Mall and holds memberships with the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and was featured in the “Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)” book for his distinguished service.
