Inspired by his family’s military history, Dr. Fredrickson was driven to follow in their footsteps. After working in the FBI’s identification division during the late 1960s, he served as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Air Force. Subsequently, he earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and joined the U.S. Army’s military police. Over the years, he gained valuable professional expertise as a Lubbock Sheriff’s Department deputy sheriff and a Lubbock Independent School District teacher. While working in education and law enforcement, Dr. Fredrickson furthered his industry knowledge, earning a Master of Education and a PhD from Texas Tech University and certifications in computer science, instructional technology, information technology, social studies, and Texas history.

In the ensuing years, Dr. Fredrickson honed his educational expertise as an assistant professor at the University of Alaska Southeast and professor at the University of Nebraska, Kearney, where he remains today in an emeritus role. Due to his vast knowledge, he has also contributed to several articles, including “Handbook of Research on Innovative Pedagogies and Technologies for Online Learning in Higher Education,” “Telecommunications and Distance EducationL Using Electronic Mail to Teach University Courses in Alaska,” and “Web-based Instruction: A Comparison of Ten Programs.”

Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Fredrickson aligns himself with the International Society for Technology in Education, the Society for Technology and Teacher Education, and the Nebraska Educational Technology Association. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in being widely recognized and appreciated for his educational work. Looking ahead, Dr. Fredrickson intends to experience his career’s continued growth and success.
