Before pursuing a second career in medicine, Dr. Barker found success as an aerospace engineer. During his time as a professor in the department of mechanics and structures at the University of California, Los Angeles, he collaborated on research with several members of the school’s medical faculty, reigniting an earlier passion for medicine.
