    COLUMBIA, SC, January 12, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Tanya T. Wilson, EdD, has been inducted into Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Wilson has spent over two decades as a speech-language pathologist for local South Carolina public school districts. As part of her priorities in the field, she is responsible for providing therapy services to school aged students. Additionally, Dr. Wilson is the owner and chief executive officer of Play On Words LLC, a pediatric speech therapy company founded in 2008.

In addition to her tasks in school districts and through her practice, Dr. Wilson has experience in higher education as a professor, clinical supervisor and graduate placement coordinator.

Active civically, Dr. Wilson is passionate about giving back. In 2020, she founded and has served as the director of Minority Speaks. She serves as a site visitor for various speech programs nationwide, reviewing applications and programs to ensure they meet accreditation standards. Moreover, Dr. Wilson has volunteered as a sign language interpreter at Bible Way Church of Atlas Road since 2010, has been the treasurer of her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., giving back her time through various charitable initiatives, and volunteering with the Women’s Center, assisting pregnant, displaced teenagers.

Dr. Wilson has a rich educational background, earning a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in speech-language pathology from South Carolina State University in 1999 and 2003, respectively. She also received a Doctor of Education in speech-language pathology from Nova Southeastern University in 2014.

As part of her continued professional commitments, Dr. Wilson is a member of the National Black Association for Speech-Language and Hearing and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

In light of her success, Dr. Wilson received six Continuing Education Awards. For her contributions to her community, she was honored with a Volunteerism and Service Award from the Sumter, South Carolina, City Council and State Senate.
